India- America diplomatic ties can be damaged if the Pannun case is not resolved” warned 5 Indian- American lawmakers.

Indian American lawmakers warned that India–American diplomatic relations can be ruined as Americans are allegedly blaming Nikhil Gupta for plotting a conspiracy to kill American Canadian citizen and Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.  The Biden Administration through its lawmakers has demanded action against Nikhil Gupta who is allegedly involved in this incident. They also alerted that bilateral relations can be spoiled if corrective measures are not taken

Federal authorities in the United States charged Gupta on November 29 for concocting a conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist. Prosecutors said that he had given an assassin $100,000 to carry out the murder, including a $15,000 down payment. But the person he reached out to recruit the hitman was a confidential informant for US law enforcement.

On June 30, Gupta was arrested in the Czech Republic at the request of the US.

A joint statement was released by 5 congressmen named Ami Bera, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Shri Thanedar. According to some media reports they stated: “As Members of Congress, the safety and well-being of our constituents is our most important priority. The allegations made in the indictment are deeply concerning.”

“We welcome the Government of India’s announcement of a Committee of Enquiry to investigate the murder plot, and it is critical that India fully investigate, hold those responsible, including Indian government officials, accountable, and provide assurances that this will not happen again”.

After the briefing of Biden’s administration of Nikhil Gupta’s allegation, they alerted that if the issue failed to be addressed, then the relations of India could be ruined.
