Sania Mirza has achieved the distinction of becoming India’s first Muslim woman fighter pilot in the Air Force. And it’s not just his family members who are happy about her becoming a pilot.

Rather the whole country is praising her. And feeling proud of her success.

Sania Mirza is a resident of a small village in Mirzapur district. She dreamt big in this small village and worked immensely hard to make that come true. And now her hard work has paid off. She has secured 148th rank in the NDA exam and now the whole country is celebrating this achievement. Behind this success of Sania Mirza is her TV mechanic father Shahid. During Sania Mirza’s studies, her father helped her in every way. He never let his daughter feel that there is a financial crunch in the house. or any kind of problem. Rather he took care of all the needs of his daughter’s education. And today this daughter has brought glory to his name.

Talking about his daughter, Sania Mirza’s father Mohammad Shahid said, “My daughter has always been good in studies, she was always topper in school, then I started feeling that she would definitely achieve something big. That’s why I never stopped my daughter from studies, but supported her in every way. And when the daughter came in twelfth, she became the district topper in the 12th examination from Guru Nanak Girls Inter College, Mirzapur. When I asked my daughter what she wanted to do next after passing 12th, I was surprised to hear her answer. And it forced me to think whether my daughter would be able to achieve the goal she is setting for herself.”

Mohammad Shahid added, “My daughter has never gone to tuition, yet she has been clinching top position in every exam.” She told me after 12th that she wanted to become a fighter pilot. “Hearing this, I said can you do it?” My daughter said that there is no difference between a girl and a boy to achieve any goal.

Whereas earlier also many people have become fighter pilots. So I’ll do it too. After my daughter’s answer, I also decided that I will help my daughter to fulfill all her dreams.

Shahid says that I had decided that day that now I will work harder to fulfill my daughter’s dream. Shahid says that after that I always stood by my daughter and she prepared for the exam. And today she has reached this point with her hard work, dedication and struggle.

Sania Mirza is a resident of Jasovar, a small village in Kotwali police station area. Her TV mechanic father does LED TV repairing work at a shop in the city. With the earnings of barely Rs 15 to 20,000 in a month, they maintain the whole family. Apart from Sania, he is also teaching a son.

Shahid says that despite financial constraints, today my daughter has got such a position that she will serve the country and bring glory to the country.

Sania had given the NDA exam on April 10 last. She has been selected in the list released in November. She is one of the two women selected in the Air Force. Sania will attend NDA training in Pune on December 27.

Talking about her success, Sania said that earlier she wanted to become an engineer and was working hard for it. But when she reached class 11, she came to know about Oni Chaturvedi, the country’s first woman fighter pilot. After this her thinking changed and she started dreaming of becoming a fighter pilot. She says that after reading about the life of the country’s first woman fighter pilot Oni Chaturvedi, I felt that I too can be a part of the Air Force, after which I decided to join the NDA. I thought I have to do something similar, so that I can be an inspiration to more people, especially girls. Never back down in educating the girl child. Rather, they should be allowed to do whatever they want to do and should be supported in every way. So that they can also serve the country.

Sania says that in our society people think more for dowry than for the education of girls. Parents should spend their wealth on the education of girls. Because serving the country is not just a passion but also a way of life.
