A picture is going viral on X (formerly Twitter) seemingly showing destruction following the recent earthquake in New York on 5th of April with 4.8 magnitude. The New York Times reported “little damage” in its report of earthquake.

Fact Check

Upon investigating, however, via reverse searching the image, the Times Headline team found that the picture being circulated along with the news of earthquake in New York is in actuality of Taiwan. Earthquake hit Taiwan with a magnitude of around 7.2 on 3rd of April.

Therefore, it is confirmed by Times Headline that the viral picture showing the aftermath destruction of New York is misleading, as it is of Taiwan. Thus, it is misleading news.
