ALIGARH, November 8: The Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized an Induction and White Coat Ceremony to welcome the newly admitted Batch of 2025 for BUMS and Pre-Tib courses, marking their formal initiation into the medical profession.
Chief Guest AMU Registrar Prof. Aasim Zafar, emphasized that medicine is a profession rooted in ethics, trust, and compassion. He urged students to maintain professional integrity, empathy, and emotional sensitivity, describing these as essential traits of true healers.
Guest of Honour Prof. Mohd Khalid, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, highlighted that the White Coat Ceremony symbolizes purity and service to humanity. He encouraged students to elevate Unani medical sciences to global standards, aligning with the vision of the Ministry of AYUSH.
In his presidential remarks, Prof. Mohammad Mazahir Alam, President, BUSS, NCISM, underlined the importance of goal setting and time management for aspiring Unani physicians and proposed establishing a Centre of Excellence at AMU to promote advanced Unani research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Earlier, welcoming the new students and guests, the Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof. S. M. Safdar Ashraf motivated them to embrace research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He also invited them to participate in the upcoming Early Goal Setting Programme in February 2026.
In his address, Prof. B.D. Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, spoke about the heritage and healing philosophy of Unani medicine, urging students to dedicate themselves to the service of patients through this traditional system of healthcare.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Saba Zaidi, Dr. Arshi Riaz, Dr. Mohd Shahab, and Dr. Safiur Rehman, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and parents, marking a memorable start to the academic journey of the new batch.
