India Showcases Scientific Strength to Global South Delegates at CSIR Session in New Delhi

New Delhi: In a significant step toward strengthening collaboration among developing nations, a high-level delegation of ambassadors and high commissioners from Global South countries participated in a “Capabilities Discovery Session” hosted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in the national capital.

The session was jointly organized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. It aimed to foster dialogue and explore collaborative solutions tailored to the needs of Global South nations.

Among the prominent attendees was H.E. Karlito Nunes, who, along with other diplomatic representatives, engaged in discussions focused on innovation, capacity-building, and shared development goals. The platform was designed by India to position itself as a leading voice for the Global South, encouraging collective brainstorming on challenges and opportunities facing developing countries.

H.E. Nunes appreciated the contributions of CSIR experts and researchers, highlighting India’s extensive scientific capabilities. The session showcased the work of CSIR’s 37 industrial research institutes, which are actively contributing across multiple sectors to promote societal welfare not only in India but also across the wider Global South.

The initiative underscores India’s growing role in advancing scientific cooperation and sustainable development among emerging economies.
