A video is being widely circulated on social media claiming to show a firing incident inside a high school in Patna, Bihar. The footage shows several armed individuals running across a school campus while multiple gunshot-like sounds can be heard in the background. Sharing the clip, many users have questioned the law and order situation in Bihar, alleging that the incident took place at Patna High School.

What is the viral claim?

The Instagram handle bihar_youth_congress shared the video with the caption:

A person who questioned the government is murdered, and now broad daylight firing takes place in a school in the state capital, Patna. The government may have changed in Bihar, but questions regarding law and order still remain.

Similarly, an X (formerly Twitter) user named MUKESH YADAV posted the same video and wrote:

This is our Bihar—where goons protected by those in power enter a school in broad daylight carrying weapons and open fire…! If even schools are no longer safe in Bihar, then who will ensure the safety of children?

Several other users on Instagram and X have also shared the video with the same claim.

During the investigation, the same video was found on a Facebook account where it was identified as footage from a film shoot. A user named Jitendra Mohan Pintu Raj shared the clip with the caption:

Today, a film shoot, which is being called a web series, was taking place at Patna High School, Gardanibagh.

Further investigation led to another video on YouTube related to the same event, stating that the Bhojpuri film “Samrat” was being filmed at Gardanibagh High School in Patna.

The investigation also found an official clarification issued by Patna Police on its social media handles. According to the police, the viral video was part of an authorized film shoot conducted at Patna High School, Gardanibagh, after obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities.

In its statement, Patna Police said:

It is clarified that the video/photos being circulated on social media (Patna High School, Gardanibagh) are part of an authorized film shoot for which prior permission had been duly granted by the competent authority. The video/photos are being shared with misleading claims, creating confusion among the public. Citizens are requested not to believe such misleading and unverified information and to rely only on information issued through official sources. Strict legal action will be taken against those spreading false and misleading information to create panic.
