From Daily Wage Labourer to National Youth Icon: The Inspiring Journey of Kashmir’s Bilal Ahmad

What began as a life marked by hardship and responsibility has turned into a story of determination, resilience and national recognition. Bilal Ahmad, a 26-year-old from a remote village in Kashmir, has been honoured with the National Youth Icon Award by English House Academy for his remarkable journey from a daily wage labourer to an educator and motivator.

The award was presented by internationally acclaimed motivational speaker and trainer Munawar Zama during the closing ceremony of a summer camp held at Hidden Castle Resort in Telangana on May 22, 2026.

Bilal’s journey is not just a story of success—it is a story of sacrifice, perseverance and an unwavering passion for learning. According to the report, he lost his father six years ago. With the responsibility of supporting his family falling on his shoulders, he worked as a daily wage labourer while continuing his education despite difficult circumstances.

Even during financial hardship, Bilal never gave up on his dream of learning. While most people slept at night, he spent his evenings studying English grammar and phonetics. The report says he invested his earnings in English grammar and phonetics books and continued teaching himself through self-study.

In December 2021, Bilal joined a month-long residential Personality Development Workshop at English House Academy. Competing alongside hundreds of participants, he emerged as one of the top performers and received several honours, including the Star Performer of the Week, Star Speaker Award, Batch Topper Award, and Gem of the Workshop Award. He was also presented the Star Father and Star Mother awards in memory of his parents.

Recognising his outstanding performance and dedication, the academy appointed him as an Assistant English Trainer. Later, in recognition of his contribution to teaching and mentoring students, he was promoted to the position of Chief Trainer.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Munawar Zama praised Bilal’s remarkable dedication, exceptional commitment and contribution to nation-building through education and motivation. The event witnessed emotional moments as participants and trainers described Bilal as an inspiration for young people.

Bilal’s colleague, Tanveer Bhatt, said that his achievement had made Kashmir proud and expressed hope that his journey would inspire young people across the Valley to pursue their dreams with determination.

Bilal Ahmad’s transformation from a daily wage labourer to a nationally recognised trainer stands as a powerful example of resilience and hope. His story reflects how determination, hard work and an unwavering commitment to education can help overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
