Thousands of Displaced Palestinians Face Flooding in Tents as Heavy Rain Hits Gaza

The Civil Defense stressed that an effective response requires coordinated efforts from local and international institutions. It called for urgent assistance, including water-pumping equipment, heavy machinery, fuel and emergency relief supplies.

The agency also urged concerned institutions to provide immediate support to emergency response teams so they can respond to distress calls, reach affected families and reduce the suffering of displaced Palestinians.

The latest flooding has further exposed the vulnerability of Gaza’s displaced population, particularly families living in fragile tents without adequate protection from rain, wind and cold.

However, the scale of the disaster has exceeded the Civil Defense’s capacity to respond independently. The agency pointed to a severe shortage of equipment, machinery and other essential resources required to drain accumulated rainwater from flooded areas.
