On 4 August 2025, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, witnessed the launch ceremony of the international volunteer program “Russian Language Ambassadors in the World,” an educational and outreach project conducted by the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute with the assistance of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The course, which for the third time is being conducted in India, will take place until August 15 and seeks to strengthen Russian language and culture among Indian youth through interactive learning methods.
Students of Russian studies were present at the audience, which was addressed by Prof. Md Kutbuddin, Acting Dean, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, JNU; Evgeny Plakhotin, Deputy Head, Project Office, Pushkin Institute; Mikhail Antsiferov, Third Secretary, Russian Embassy in India; and Anastasia Ilyushina, Youth Projects Coordinator, Russian House in New Delhi.

JNU’s Centre of Russian Studies had its faculty members Prof. Kiran Singh Verma, Prof. Ranjana Banerjee, Dr. Somu Saini, and Dr. Ajoy Kumar Karnati present at the ceremony. There was also a master class on Russian folk art in the traditional manner, presenting Gzhel and Khokhloma painting styles.
Through the program, Russian Language Ambassadors Valeria Artemyeva and Polina Dorozhkina will provide interactive sessions that will acquaint students from Bluebells International School, the University of Delhi, and JNU with Russian language and literature, increasing cultural awareness and academic interaction between the two countries.
