Putin and Modi Discuss Ukraine, Trade, and Bilateral Cooperation

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone conversation on August 8, demonstrating the two countries’ “special and privileged strategic partnership.”

Putin gave Modi an update on the main conclusions of his meeting with U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Moscow on August 6. Modi thanked everyone for the update and reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for a diplomatic, political, and peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict.

Along with reviewing important bilateral issues, the two leaders concentrated on improving trade, economic cooperation, and investment opportunities. In order to fortify the long-standing Russia-Indian relationship, both reaffirmed their dedication to expanding cooperation across sectors and stressed the significance of ongoing communication.
