ALIGARH, November 1: Following the university-wide observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, further programs were held at various departments, offices, halls and schools of Aligarh Muslim University, reaffirming the commitment to national unity, harmony, and fitness.
At the Department of Chemistry, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge was administered under the supervision of Prof. Zeba N. Siddiqui, Chairperson. Faculty members, research scholars and students participated, reflecting on Sardar Patel’s life, vision and the significance of collective responsibility in nation-building.
The NSS Unit of AMU also observed the day with a Unity Pledge and a Run for Unity. Program officers and volunteers participated enthusiastically, recalling Sardar Patel’s role in national integration. The event concluded with the national anthem.

At AMU Kishanganj Centre, Bihar, faculty members, students and staff participated in a pledge ceremony underscoring the values of unity and national integrity. Speakers highlighted Sardar Patel’s monumental role in integrating the nation and urged students to uphold these ideals.
The Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged observed the day under the leadership of Principal Dr. Naila Rashid, who encouraged students and staff to follow Sardar Patel’s ideals and work with discipline, cooperation and mutual respect for a stronger nation.

The continued spirit of Unity Day was observed in other units, complementing earlier reports from residential halls, with students and staff reiterating their responsibility toward national integrity.
At STS School, Principal Mr. Faisal Nafis administered the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge to staff members, followed by a Run for Unity with active participation from students, teachers and non-teaching staff. He emphasized Sardar Patel’s unmatched role in unifying India and urged students to uphold the values of unity, peace and brotherhood. The programme was guided by Vice-Principal Dr. Md. Alamgir and coordinated by the cultural team comprising Mr. Mohammad Asim, Mr. Farhan Habib, Mrs. Samina Yusuf Khan, Mr. Mohd. Shakir, Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir and Ms. Nasreen Fatima.
At Saiyyid Hamid Senior Secondary School (Boys), Principal Mr. Sabahuddin led the Unity Pledge and Run for Unity, with participation from teachers, staff and students. Dr. Mohd Younus Ali Khan administered the pledge.

AMU ABK High School (Boys) commemorated the day with a speech by Head Boy Daniyal Ali on Sardar Patel’s legacy, followed by a pledge ceremony and a symbolic torch march led by Principal Dr. Samina with students and teachers, expressing unity and collective commitment.
The continued activities across university departments, centres, halls, and schools reflected AMU’s dedication to strengthening the ideals of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat through unity, fitness, and civic responsibility, inspired by the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
