PM Modi, Albanese Review Key Bilateral Ties During Meeting in Johannesburg

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the two leaders conducted a comprehensive review of the growing India–Australia partnership. The meeting came as both nations mark five years of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a period that has seen notable expansion in bilateral engagement.

During the talks, Modi and Albanese expressed satisfaction with the substantial deepening and diversification of relations across multiple sectors. They discussed advances in defence and security cooperation, collaboration on critical minerals, and the strengthening of trade and investment linkages. Education partnerships and the increasing movement of people between the two countries were also highlighted as key pillars of the relationship.

The two leaders explored additional avenues to further broaden and enhance their multifaceted cooperation, emphasizing the mutual strategic importance of the partnership in the Indo-Pacific region. They also reiterated their shared commitment to intensifying the global fight against terrorism and working together on issues of international security.

Both sides underscored that the momentum in India–Australia ties reflects their shared values and common vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
