New Delhi: The Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi hosted the Nobel Memorial Reception at the Swedish Residence, continuing a tradition of more than 15 years that honours the legacy of Alfred Nobel and celebrates the ideals of science, peace and human progress.

The theme of this year’s reception, “Inspiring Progress,” highlighted the role of inspiration as the driving force behind discovery and innovation. Emphasising that progress begins when curiosity meets courage, the event reflected on the importance of hope and collective effort in shaping a brighter future.
Education and knowledge were underscored as central pillars of progress. The occasion also recalled the enduring words of Rabindranath Tagore, India’s first Nobel Laureate in Literature (1913), who said, “Don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time.” The quote resonated with the spirit of openness, curiosity and forward thinking that defines sustainable development.

As India moves towards its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, Sweden reaffirmed its commitment to being a long-term partner, particularly in areas such as science, technology, sustainability and education. The reception highlighted the shared belief that future breakthroughs may emerge from Indian classrooms or through collaborative Swedish-Indian research initiatives.
The evening concluded with a message of optimism, underscoring that through continued cooperation and shared values, aspiration can be transformed into meaningful action for global progress.
