ALIGARH, January 25: Prof Mohammad Athar Ansari of the Department of Community Medicine, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, has been appointed as Dean Students’ Welfare for a period of three years with effect from January 26, 2026.
Prof Ansari is a senior professor of Community Medicine with over 29 years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and nearly 27 years at the postgraduate level. An alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, he holds an MBBS, MD, and PhD in Community Medicine and has specialized expertise in epidemiology and public health.
A prolific academic, Prof Ansari has to his credit more than 160 research papers published in national and international journals. He has authored nine books, including Iodine Deficiency Disorders – A Handbook, Disaster Management: A Public Health Emergency, Basics of Biostatistics in Medical Sciences, and the widely used MCQs in Community Medicine. He has also contributed more than a dozen book chapters to edited volumes published by reputed national and international publishers, addressing critical issues in community medicine, maternal and child health, nutrition, and public health systems. He has also guided a large number of MD and PhD scholars and has been associated with several research projects, editorial boards, and professional bodies related to public health and preventive medicine.
He has held various academic and administrative responsibilities during his long association with the University and is widely recognized for his contributions to teaching, research, and community-oriented public health initiatives.
