Czech Ambassador Holds High-Level Talks in Sri Lanka on EU Cooperation and Development

Colombo, February 5 — Czech Ambassador Dr. Eliška Žigová held a series of high-level meetings in Sri Lanka on February 5, underscoring the Czech Republic’s and the European Union’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the island nation.

Earlier in the day, Ambassador Žigová met with the European Union Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Carmen Moreno. The meeting featured an in-depth and cordial exchange of views on enhancing EU–Sri Lanka cooperation, with a particular focus on the economy, education, culture, and tourism.

In her second engagement of the day, Ambassador Žigová paid a courtesy call on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. Discussions centered on potential avenues for sustained cooperation and support aligned with Sri Lanka’s development priorities, including efforts to bolster economic resilience and promote the country’s long-term growth trajectory.

The meetings highlighted shared interests in deepening partnerships and advancing collaborative initiatives between Sri Lanka, the Czech Republic, and the European Union.
