In a significant step toward strengthening inclusive education and experiential learning, a group of special educators, teachers, and students from Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Jogabai (NFC–1925049), visited the Child Guidance Centre (CGC) under the aegis of the Dr. Zakir Husain Memorial Welfare Society. The exposure visit was organized under the ‘Science of Living Programme’ with the objective of fostering awareness, professional exchange, and sensitivity toward children with special needs.

The visiting team comprised:

• Mrs. Nishat, Special Educator and Program Committee Member
The team was cordially received under the leadership of the General Secretary of the Society, Prof. Mohammad Ghazi Shahnawaz, and the Project Director of CGC, Mr. Naseem Ahmad. As a symbolic gesture of environmental responsibility and goodwill, sapling pots were presented to the guests.
During the visit, the team engaged in detailed interactions with the Centre’s multidisciplinary professionals comprising special educators, counselors, and therapists. They observed structured psychological assessments, individualized therapeutic interventions, remedial teaching sessions, and community outreach initiatives. The Centre’s staff provided comprehensive insights into its operational framework, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), early intervention strategies, behavioral management techniques, and integrated rehabilitation model designed to support children with diverse developmental profiles.

On the occasion, Project Director Mr. Naseem Ahmad elaborated on the institutional vision, inclusive pedagogical practices, and counseling mechanisms aimed at holistic child development. Psychologist Mrs. Farheen facilitated a guided tour of the Centre, enabling meaningful interaction between visiting students and enrolled children. The interactive exposure cultivated empathy, mutual respect, and collaborative engagement among participants.
The visit proved to be academically enriching and socially transformative for the students. Experiencing inclusive classroom environments and therapeutic processes firsthand enhanced their understanding of diversity, equity, and social inclusion. The school representatives acknowledged the Centre’s structured, child-centric, and evidence-based approach as a model of best practice in special education and community rehabilitation. They further expressed their commitment to organizing similar experiential learning visits in the future.
The Child Guidance Centre continues to function under the aegis of Jamia Millia Islamia under the visionary leadership of its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi. Their sustained guidance and institutional support remain instrumental in advancing inclusive education, child welfare, and community-based rehabilitation initiatives.
