JMI Hosts IBO Awareness Programme on Blueprint to Board Certification

The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), organized the Indian Board of Orthodontics (IBO) Awareness Programme – Blueprint to Board Certification on January 5, 2026, at the FTK-CIT Conference Hall, JMI. The programme was held in collaboration with the Indian Board of Orthodontics (IBO), Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS), and the Orthodontic Study Group of Delhi (OsGOD).

The event was inaugurated by the Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, in the presence of Officiating Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Ashu Bharadwaj, along with eminent dignitaries, faculty members, orthodontic practitioners, postgraduate residents, and students. In his inaugural address, Prof. Rizvi highlighted the importance of ethical clinical practice, evidence-based treatment standards, meticulous documentation, and lifelong learning as fundamental values upheld by the university.

The programme witnessed active participation from over 90 delegates, including faculty members, private practitioners, and postgraduate students from various dental colleges across the Delhi–NCR region.

Scientific sessions featured structured presentations on IBO Certification Categories I to V, delivered by IBO Board Members Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar, Prof. (Dr) Ajit Kalia, Dr. Ashish Garg, Dr. Kiran Kumar H. C., and Prof. (Dr) Sunanda Roychoudhury. The sessions provided detailed insights into case selection, treatment records, evaluation criteria, and presentation standards essential for board certification.

The programme began with an address by Prof. Maninder S. Sidhu, Convener, OsGOD, who presented the Convener’s Update and invited Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar, Chairman, IBO, to deliver the opening lecture. Prof. Manohar introduced the recently published IBO Index, explaining its structure, clinical relevance, and application in case assessment and documentation.

A special interactive session titled “IBO Certification & Me — From Aspiration to Achievement” was conducted by Prof. (Dr) Puneet Batra, Immediate Past President, IOS, and Group Captain (Dr) Mohit Sharma. The speakers shared their professional experiences and emphasized the transformative role of board certification in orthodontic practice.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session acknowledging the contributions of the speakers, organizers, OsGOD members, institutional support teams, and participants. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Harneet Kaur, Professor of Orthodontics, JMI, and Convener, OsGOD, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and delegates for their support and enthusiastic participation.
