ALIGARH, The Nanotechnology Centre, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), hosted Sudhir Kumar Sopory, eminent scientist and former Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, during his visit to the facility.
A recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize and the Padma Shri, Prof. Sopory was received by Prof. Absar Ahmad, Director of the Centre, along with Prof. Nafees Ahmad Khan, Dr. Mohammad Azhar Aziz faculty members, researchers and students. He was apprised of the Centre’s ongoing research, achievements and future plans in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
During his visit, Prof. Sopory toured various laboratories and reviewed research activities related to nanomaterials, biomedical applications and environmental sustainability. He appreciated the Centre’s interdisciplinary approach and its focus on linking fundamental research with emerging technological applications.
Interacting with students and scholars, he encouraged them to pursue innovation-driven research while maintaining high standards of scientific integrity. He emphasised the importance of curiosity, collaboration and global exposure in building a successful academic career.
He also offered suggestions to faculty members on enhancing research output and strengthening international collaborations, particularly in the area of translational research aimed at addressing real-world challenges.
