Lecture on Cyber Security and Women Safety held at J&K Girls Hostel

A comprehensive Lecture on “Cyber Security and Women Safety” was successfully organized on 10th April 2026 by the Provost Office of J&K Girls Hostel in collaboration with the Shikhar Foundation and Delhi Police Public Library. The session featured an insightful lecture by Ms Neha Yadav, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, PMMC, Delhi Police. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Nadeem Akhter, CEO of Shikhar Foundation.

The Lecture commenced with a soulful Qirat recitation by Ms. Ishrat (Hafiz-e-Quran), a resident of J&K Girls Hostel, setting a dignified and reflective tone for the event.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof Nikhat Manzoor, Provost of J&K Girls Hostel, who emphasized the growing importance of cyber awareness and personal safety in today’s digital age. She highlighted the role of such initiatives in empowering students with knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies to safeguard themselves both online and offline.

The keynote lecture by Ms Neha Yadav focused on critical issues related to women’s safety, with special attention to vulnerable sections of society. She elaborated on various types of cyber threats, including online fraud, identity theft, and cyber harassment, while also providing practical solutions and preventive measures to tackle these challenges effectively.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, where students actively engaged with the speaker, seeking guidance and clarifications on real-life concerns related to cyber security and personal safety.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Deputy Provost Dr. Arshi Salamat. The event was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Shabnam Khan (Warden), Dr. Nazia Khan (Warden), Dr. Shazia Haider (Warden), and Resident Wardens Dr. Iqra Nissar and Dr. Sheenam Ayyub of J&K Girls Hostel.

The lecture proved to be highly informative and impactful, reinforcing the importance of awareness and preparedness in ensuring a safer and more secure environment for women.
