Ambassador Benedikt Höskuldsson Visits Kohinoor Ropes, Strengthens India–Iceland Industry Partnership

Ambassador Benedikt Höskuldsson visited Kohinoor Ropes Pvt Ltd in Maharashtra on 28 and 29 April, meeting the teams behind the work at one of India’s leading manufacturers of fishing nets and ropes.

The visit comes on the heels of Hampiðjan, an Icelandic global leader in fishing gear and maritime solutions, acquiring a majority stake in Kohinoor Ropes. It was a welcome opportunity to see this Iceland-India partnership in action and to express strong support for the growing ties between our two countries.

This collaboration reflects the spirit of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which places investment-led growth and employment generation at its core. Hampiðjan’s presence in India brings with it technology transfer, enhanced production capabilities, and deeper integration into global value chains.

A new manufacturing facility in Aurangabad is also in the works, one that promises to expand capacity, establish India as a strategic hub for Hampiðjan’s global operations, and create meaningful employment opportunities in the region.
