In the small village of Jampuijala in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, a remarkable story of determination and hope has touched thousands of hearts. Dudhu Miah, a former schoolteacher who once lost his government job due to educational qualification issues, has now rewritten his destiny by passing the Class 12 board examination in 2026 alongside his daughter, Ruma Akhter. Their achievement is not just about academic success it is a story of resilience, family support, and the belief that learning has no age limit.
Dudhu Miah’s life was filled with struggles and setbacks. Years ago, he had passed his Madhyamik (Class 10) examination in 1997 and later appeared for the Higher Secondary exam in 1999, but he could not clear it. Like many people from rural India, family responsibilities forced him to put aside his dreams of higher education. Instead, he focused on earning a livelihood and supporting his family. For nearly 12 years, he gave private tuition to children in his area before eventually securing a government teaching job in 2014. However, life took a painful turn in 2020 when Tripura’s controversial teacher recruitment scrutiny led to the dismissal of over 10,000 teachers. Dudhu Miah was among those who lost their jobs after court rulings questioned recruitment procedures and educational qualifications. Suddenly unemployed, he faced financial hardship and uncertainty. To support his family, he worked as a daily wage labourer and also tried small business activities to keep his household running.
Despite these challenges, Dudhu Miah never lost his respect for education. The turning point came when his daughter, Ruma Akter, encouraged him to return to studies. She believed that her father still had the ability and determination to complete his education. Inspired by her words, Dudhu Miah decided to enroll again in Higher Secondary studies at Pramodnagar Higher Secondary School. Father and daughter began studying together under the same roof, sharing books, notes, and dreams. Their daily routine became a symbol of dedication. After completing household responsibilities and work, Dudhu Miah would sit beside his daughter to study late into the night. He often used Ruma’s notes and study materials to prepare for exams. Whenever Ruma faced difficulty in understanding any topic, she would turn to her father for help. Their bond grew stronger through education, and together they motivated each other to continue despite the odds.

When the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) declared the Higher Secondary examination results in 2026, both father and daughter passed successfully. Ruma scored more than 50 percent marks, while Dudhu Miah secured around 45 percent. The entire village celebrated their achievement with pride and joy. What made the story even more special was the emotional message behind it: education is not limited by age, failure, or hardship. Speaking to the media, Dudhu Miah said that learning has no age limit and every opportunity to gain knowledge should be utilized. He also expressed his wish to continue his studies further and possibly join college alongside his daughter. Ruma, too, proudly said that her father’s passion for learning had always inspired her.
Today, Dudhu Miah and Ruma Akter stand as symbols of courage and perseverance. Their story reminds society that failures are temporary, but determination can open new doors at any stage of life. In an era where many people give up after setbacks, this father-daughter duo from Tripura has shown that dreams can be rebuilt with hard work, support, and faith in oneself. Their success is more than an examination result it is a lesson for every generation that education is the most powerful tool for rebuilding dignity, confidence, and hope.
