Fact Check: Viral Video Falsely Claims BSF Pushed an Illegal Bangladeshi Infiltrator Back Across the Border

A video is being widely shared on social media with the claim that it shows an incident at the Daulatpur border, where the Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly forced an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator back into Bangladesh. The claim further alleges that two days later, personnel of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were caught on camera pushing the same individual back into Indian territory.

On X (formerly Twitter), verified user Jitendra Pratap Singh shared the video with the following caption:

“At the Daulatpur border, the BSF pushed an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator back into Bangladesh. Two days later, Border Guard Bangladesh personnel were caught on camera forcing the same infiltrator back into Indian territory.”

Investigating the Viral Claim

To verify the authenticity of the claim, Times Headline examined multiple media reports and reviewed all available evidence related to the video.

During the investigation, no reports were found in either national or international media that support the viral claim.

However, The Business Standard published a report providing relevant context. According to the report:

“Twelve individuals, including women and children who were allegedly subjected to a pushback incident at the Pragpur border in Daulatpur Upazila of Kushtia, were handed over to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on June 15 through a flag meeting held three days after the incident. Following a meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the BSF, the individuals were transferred near border pillar 148/3-S in Pragpur at around 11 a.m. Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Kamal Rony, commanding officer of Kushtia 47 BGB, confirmed that the 12 individuals were officially handed over to the BSF after the meeting.”

What Did the Video Analysis Reveal?

A detailed analysis of the viral video revealed the presence of a border marker labeled “M.P. 157.”

Additionally, the background audio suggests that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel are warning individuals in the Bengali language.

In the video, BGB personnel can be heard saying:

“Go back, go back. You came from India, so return to India. I am warning you not to enter Bangladesh.”

Further investigation led to YouTube reports published on June 15, 2026, by Bangladeshi media outlets The Daily Ittefaq and NewsG24. The reports carried the caption:

“BGB foils another infiltration attempt at the Daulatpur border.”

Expert Opinion

For additional verification, Times Headline spoke with Yasin Alomdar, editor of the Bangladeshi news website Diplotic.

He stated:

“The viral video was filmed in Bangladesh. The activities shown in the footage took place within Bangladeshi border territory, and the Indian Border Security Force had no involvement in the incident.”

Conclusion

The investigation by Times Headline found the viral claim to be misleading.

Available evidence indicates that the video was recorded in Bangladesh, not India. No BSF personnel are visible in the footage, and there is no evidence confirming that the individuals shown in the video are Indian nationals.

Therefore, the claim that the BSF pushed an illegal Bangladeshi infiltrator across the border and that the BGB later forced the same person back into India is not supported by the facts.
