Italy has described India as a natural strategic partner in the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), highlighting the strong geographical, historical, and economic ties between the two countries. Emphasizing a long-term vision, Italy said IMEC is designed to build an interconnected network of transport and digital infrastructure that will facilitate the movement of goods and data across regions.

According to the statement, the corridor aims to diversify global supply chains, create resilient and alternative value chains, strengthen market integration, and unlock industrial potential. It also seeks to address existing infrastructure bottlenecks while improving economic resilience in the face of global challenges and crises.
The remarks were made during an interaction with the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) and leading researchers, where discussions focused on enhancing India-Italy cooperation and advancing the strategic objectives of the IMEC initiative.
