BEIRUT: The death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since October 8, 2023, has risen to 8,953, while 30,643 people have been injured, according to figures released by Lebanon’s Health Ministry on Thursday.
The ministry’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center said that between March 2 and September 17 alone, 4,386 people were killed and 12,407 others injured, highlighting the scale of casualties recorded during the period.
Missile Strikes Hit Al-Mansouri
Israeli forces continued attacks in several areas of southern Lebanon, with two consecutive missile strikes reported in the town of Al-Mansouri.
According to the report, the strikes were followed by two rounds of extensive explosions targeting the town center and its fourth neighborhood. The powerful blasts were reportedly heard in Tyre and surrounding towns and villages.
Artillery Shelling Reported Near Nabatieh
Israeli attacks were also reported in other parts of southern Lebanon. Intermittent artillery shelling targeted the Ali Al-Taher Heights, located on the outskirts of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa.
The latest attacks come amid continued military activity and reported violations in southern Lebanon, where the number of people killed and injured has continued to rise since October 2023.
Mounting Humanitarian Toll
The latest figures from Lebanon’s Health Ministry underline the continuing human cost of the conflict. Thousands of people have been killed or injured since the escalation began in October 2023, while repeated attacks in southern Lebanon have continued to affect civilian life and security.
The Lebanese Health Ministry figures cited in the report indicate that more than 39,500 people have been killed or injured since October 8, 2023.
The situation in southern Lebanon remains tense, with further attacks reported in several areas and concerns continuing over the impact of the conflict on the civilian population.
