External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar welcomed Politburo member and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi this evening, underscoring that bilateral relations must be guided by the “three mutuals” — mutual respect, mutual sensitivity, and mutual interest.
Acknowledging the challenges of recent years, Dr. Jaishankar stressed the need for a candid and constructive approach from both sides to move forward.
The two leaders held wide-ranging discussions covering economic and trade matters, pilgrimages, people-to-people exchanges, river data sharing, border trade, connectivity, and bilateral mechanisms. They also exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues.
Expressing optimism, Dr. Jaishankar said he was confident that the day’s talks would contribute to building a stable, cooperative, and forward-looking partnership between India and China.
