President of Russia Vladimir Putin welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bilateral talks on the sidelines of the SCO Summit.
President Putin recalled the 15th anniversary of the 2009 Joint Statement that elevated relations to a “special privileged strategic partnership.” He underlined the strong foundation of trust between Russia and India, highlighting growing trade, tourism, and close coordination at international forums including the UN, BRICS, G20, and SCO.
Prime Minister Modi, in turn, expressed his deep personal connection with President Putin, noting that the upcoming 23rd Annual Summit in India will be warmly anticipated by 1.4 billion Indians. He emphasized that despite global challenges, India and Russia have always stood “shoulder to shoulder,” contributing to global peace, stability, and prosperity.
On the conflict in Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent call for peace, urging all parties to seek constructive solutions for an early resolution.
