It is clear by the fact check that the viral video, depicting people running, in order to save themselves from a sudden cloudburst in Delhi, is fake

Claim:  A recent viral video on social media shows people running amok on the streets, as it gets inundated due to a cloudburst. A text on the video says in Hindi: Due to fear of a cloudburst, people started running in panic. 12.4.2025. The user had shared this video on April 14, 2025.

Similarly, another user on Instagram has shared the same video with text which says in Hindi: Due to a cloudburst in Delhi, there was chaos and panic — I had posted a video about it yesterday as well.
This user shared this video on April 3, 2025.

However, the same video, was also uploaded on September 6, 2024, on Instagram, falsely implying that the incident happened in Delhi. This user, too, had claimed of people running amok after a cloudburst in Delhi. The text in Hindi said: People ran in chaos, fearing a cloudburst.

Fact Check

To investigate this claim, timesheadline.in conducted a reverse image search of a key frame from the video. This reverse image search revealed many such claims online on various social media sites. Many claims with the same video were made in the year 2024 as well.

Further investigation revealed that the same video was uploaded on venezuelaenlamira on Instagram and Monitoreamos, a profile on X, formerly Twitter.

Monitoreamos had shared this video on July 30, 2024. It had shared the video with a caption, “Protesta en Puerto La Cruz, estado Anzoátegui, contra el fraude de Maduro.” A translation of this means, Protest in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui state, against (Nicolas) Maduro’s fraud. (Moduro is the current president of Venezuela).

On Instagram, a profile called venezuelaenlamira has shared the same video with a caption, “Protesta en Puerto La Cruz, estado Anzoátegui, contra el fraude de Maduro. Por Monitoreamos. A rough translation of this means: Protest in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui state, against Maduro’s fraud. By Monitoreamos.

This video was shared on July 30, 2025 by venezuelaenlamira on Instagram — courtesy Monitoreamos.
A news report by CNN, published on July 30, 2025, states that this was an anti-Nicolas Maduro protest in Caracas, Venezuela, after the presidential election results had revealed that Maduro had won, while his opponents and the opposition parties took to the streets.

Additionally, we cross-checked media reports for any cloudburst incidents in Delhi. However, no such reports were found.

Conclusion

Hence, it is clear by the fact check that the viral video, depicting people running, in order to save themselves from a sudden cloudburst in Delhi, is fake.

The original video is from Venezuela which shows a protest against Nicolas Maduro. This video was originally published on July 30, 2024 on the Monitoreamos profile on X (formerly Twitter). A news report by CNN also corroborates the fact that this protest happened in Venezuela.

Therefore, this video is misleading.
