Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Mazhar Asif, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), along with Prof. Md Mahtab Alam, Registrar of JMI, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) organized a series of impactful events to commemorate World Youth Skills Day 2025— a day globally recognized to highlight the significance of equipping youth with skills essential for employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation. World Youth Skills Day is celebrated every year on 15 July.
Extending the celebrations past July 15, the CIE organized a significant Expert Talk for Start-up Founders on July 18, 2025, centered around the theme: “From Idea to Impact: Global Insights for Start-up Founders” at the Boardroom of the Livelihood Business Incubator, CIE, JMI. The keynote speaker was Mr. Vijay K. Srivastava (commonly known as VJ), CEO of IAEGlocal Worldwide and a Start-up Mentor currently residing in Papua New Guinea.

The session was attended by aspiring entrepreneurs, start-up founders, innovators, and students from skill-based courses, providing them with global perspectives on innovation, business growth, and venture sustainability.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rihan Khan Suri, Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship said
“Skill development and entrepreneurship are two pillars of a resilient and inclusive economy. At CIE, we believe in empowering individuals through real-world skills, hands-on training, and exposure to entrepreneurial thinking. Our mission is to turn every learner into a potential innovator and job creator. Through partnerships, mentoring, and incubation, we are building an ecosystem where skills meet opportunity, and innovation drives progress.”
During the previous celebration held on July 15, 2025, Mr. Sajid Ahmad, a Trustee of Hundard Laboratories Ltd., visited the CIE campus and interacted with students involved in various short-term vocational training programs. A dynamic Skill Competition was organized across essential trades—Bakery, Tailoring, and Beautician Training. Over 100 students participated, showcasing their products and services through live demonstrations. Mr. Sajid commended the creativity, enthusiasm, and entrepreneurial spirit of the participants and lauded the university for promoting self-sufficiency and skill-oriented education.

Furthermore, a strategic meeting took place with Ms. Kamna Jain, a representative from the NASSCOM Sector Skills Council (SSC), to investigate potential collaborative opportunities in the area of Future Skills and Digital Technology Training. The discussions highlighted the importance of aligning CIE’s curriculum with the changing demands of the industry, integrating advanced technologies, and developing pathways for talent that is prepared for future job markets.
These events collectively reinforce the unwavering commitment of CIE, JMI to the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes experiential learning, integration with industry, and development driven by entrepreneurship for the youth of India.
