Now in its fourth successful phase, the Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) continues to provide catalytic, strategic, and innovative support to India’s National Health Mission.
Active in the states of Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Rajasthan, NIPI is driving improvements in access, quality, and coverage of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRHR) and Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services, especially for vulnerable communities.
The initiative has scaled up evidence-based interventions, introduced innovative models, and promoted institutional collaborations to enhance digital public health tools. During her recent visit to Bihar, Ambassador May-Elin Stener witnessed the positive impact of these efforts. At the District Hospital in Nalanda, family participatory care—engaging both mothers and fathers—has contributed to improved newborn care and reduced mortality rates.

In Deepnagar, NIPI’s Decision Support Systems have been piloted to enable timely, evidence-based care. Ambassador Stener engaged with Community Health Officers using digital applications to deliver more accurate services and interacted directly with community beneficiaries, highlighting the tangible results of this impactful collaboration.
