International Mask Exhibition Showcases Jharkhand’s Cultural Heritage in Thailand

The International Mask Exhibition, organized under the patronage of the Thailand International Mask Carnival from 2–6 August 2025 in Naga Kanha Gotama Plaza, Loie Province, Thailand, united colorful traditions from all over the world. A nine-member Purulia Chhau Dance troupe from Jharkhand, India, headed by Mr. Prabhat Kumar Mahto, was mesmerizing with traditional masks depicting the rich cultural craftsmanship of the Jharkhand area.

The ceremony was graced by a number of dignitaries, among them being Dr. Chaitanya Prakash Yogi, Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre at the Embassy of India in Bangkok. The event had support from numerous cultural and academic institutions, such as the Indian Association of Thailand, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Chulalongkorn University, Silpakorn University, and Thailand’s Ministry of Culture, and mainstream media partners like Thairath, Bangkok Post, Indo Thai News, and BangkokScoop.com. The event was a cultural bridge, bringing India’s traditional art forms to the international forefront.
