ALIGARH, August 27: Dr. Mohd Asrarul Haque, Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), represented India as an invited guest speaker at the Medico-Legal Conference (MELECON) 2025, organised by the Medico-Legal Society of Nepal (MeLeSoN).
The international event brought together leading academicians, forensic experts and medico-legal professionals from South Asian countries and beyond to deliberate on contemporary challenges and innovations in forensic medicine and medical jurisprudence.
Dr. Haque delivered a lecture on “Unclaimed Dead in Forensic Medicine: Protocols, Problems, and the Pursuit of Justice.” He highlighted the medico-legal, ethical and social issues linked with unclaimed deceased individuals, stressing the need for standardized protocols, inter-agency coordination and legal safeguards to ensure dignity and accountability.
Apart from addressing the gathering, Dr. Haque also served as a judge for the Faculty Award Category in the poster presentation session, evaluating research contributions and encouraging academic innovation in the field.Dr. Haque has not only brought recognition to AMU but also highlighted India’s commitment to addressing sensitive medico-legal challenges at a global level.
