Ambassador Ganbold Dambajav Meets Dr. Lokesh Chandra

New Delhi – Ambassador Ganbold Dambajav had the honour of meeting Dr. Lokesh Chandra, a distinguished scholar and statesman. The Ambassador was deeply enriched by Dr. Chandra’s profound wisdom, his reflections on the shared history of Mongolia and India, his visionary outlook on Mongolia’s future, and the enduring spiritual bond uniting the peoples of the two nations.

On this occasion, the Ambassador conveyed the news of the award conferred upon Dr. Chandra and informed him of the forthcoming Mongolian translation of his book. This cultural milestone, set to be published by the close of this commemorative year, coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India, marking a harmonious confluence of literature and diplomacy.

Dr. Lokesh Chandra, 98, has authored 576 books and 286 scholarly articles. He has served twice as a Member of Parliament and as President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). In recognition of his monumental contributions, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and the Order of the Polar Star of Mongolia in 2016. His father, Dr. Raghu Vira, was a renowned Sanskrit scholar, linguist, and political figure who also served as an advisor to Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
