Bareilly: Today marks October 7 — the day two years ago when the war between Hamas and Israel began, a conflict that tragically continues to this day. On the second anniversary of this war, the All India Muslim Jamaat organized a press conference. Addressing the gathering, the national president of the Jamaat, Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, stated that thousands of lives have been lost in Gaza due to Israeli bombings, and extremist group **Hamas bears responsibility for allowing Israel to launch such attacks. “Had Hamas not taken Israelis hostage on October 7, we would not have witnessed this devastating situation,” he said.

Maulana Razvi further stated that Hamas’s violent actions on October 7 not only escalated the Israel–Palestine conflict but also completely derailed the long-standing peace process. At a time when diplomatic efforts and international mediation were nurturing hope for a just solution to the Palestinian issue, Hamas’s reckless decision shattered the entire process. This act gave Israel a pretext for military operations, deepening the divide of violence and mistrust between the two sides. Consequently, what could have been achieved through dialogue and diplomacy has now been engulfed in a vicious cycle of bloodshed and revenge.

He added that Hamas’s policies and strategies have brought only devastation to the innocent civilians of Gaza, especially children and women. According to reports from the United Nations and human rights organizations, thousands of women and children have perished in this violence. This tragedy highlights how Hamas’s extremist politics have inflicted suffering, displacement, and destruction upon the Palestinian people instead of safety, dignity, and peace. True leadership, he emphasized, protects its people — not one that throws them into the fire of war. In Islam, there is no place for terrorism, violence, or the killing of innocents. Spreading anarchy and taking innocent lives is absolutely forbidden under Islamic law. The Qur’an declares: “Whoever kills an innocent person, it is as if he has killed all of humanity” (Qur’an 5:32).

The Jamaat’s president also condemned those extremist ideologies that misuse religion to incite young minds. “Extremist organizations do not represent Islam; they represent a rigid and political mindset that is far removed from the Sufi traditions of love and peace,” he said. The true solution to the Palestinian issue lies in *peace, dialogue, and political process. *Yasser Arafat, who led the Palestinian struggle for freedom and dignity, always prioritized peace and negotiation. He repeatedly said that ‘Peace is the real path for Palestine.’ His vision still reminds us that genuine leadership is about steering people away from violence and leading them toward stability, security, and hope.

The Jamaat believes that the future of Palestine lies not in weapons, but in wisdom, love, and the pursuit of justice — the very path exemplified by Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority.

The scholars further noted that relations between India and Palestine have always been cordial. When the war in Gaza began, India was among the first nations to send humanitarian aid. India has consistently recognized the Palestinian state and continues to provide annual economic assistance.

The press conference was attended by Maulana Mujahid Hussain, Mufti Farooq Razvi, Maulana Aneesur Rahman, Tahseen Raza Khan, Shahid Razvi, Faisal Islam, and others.
