Finnish Ambassador Strengthens Cooperation with West Bengal During Kolkata Visit

With Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister for Industries, Commerce & Enterprises, Ambassador discussed Finnish business presence in West Bengal and possibilities for further cooperation especially in the sectors of digitalization and sustainability, including in circular economy.

Ambassador Lähdevirta and Counsellor Orava spoke to local businesses and stakeholders at an session organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC). Thank you to Mr. Vikash Lohia, Chairman, ICC Railway Committee and Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General, ICC for chairing a lively discussion!

Ambassador met with the Honorary Consul of Finland Mr. Shashwat Goenka (Vice Chairman of RP – Sanjiv Goenka Group) and discussed ongoing cooperation. Thank you for your enthusiasm in advancing Finland-India relations in West Bengal.

Another highlight was the visit to the RPGIS International School and a meeting with 3rd grade pupils. Second Secretary Iiris Määttä engaged in an interactive session on the Moomins and the story of ‘Ninny – the Invisible Child’. Thank you for the warm welcome and interest in Moomins and Finnish culture!

The visit ended with the Kolkata edition of ‘Hei Suomi – The Happiest Quiz Ever – DESI edition’ conducted by Quizcraft Global at the IMI Kolkata. After studying all things related to Finland and Moomins, over 140 students from 73 schools put all their knowledge into action. Congratulations to the winners and runners-up! whysoQrious
