Ambassador Hardien Showcases Suriname’s Heritage at “Frames of Heritage” Exhibition

Ambassador Arunkoemar Hardien represented Suriname at the “Frames of Heritage” exhibition, an exclusive event where diplomats presented photographs of UNESCO World Heritage Sites from India alongside images from their own countries.

Organised by Diplomatist Magazine, the exhibition served as a visual dialogue celebrating cultural memory, cross-cultural understanding, and shared global heritage.

During the event, Ambassador Hardien reflected on the longstanding historical ties between India and Suriname and underscored the role of shared heritage in strengthening bilateral bonds. He highlighted Suriname’s rich cultural landscape, including its UNESCO-listed sites.

A featured photograph from Suriname showcased the Jodensavanne Archaeological Landscape, a 17th-century settlement founded by Sephardic Jews fleeing persecution. Home to the first purpose-built synagogue in the Americas, the site stands as a significant testament to Suriname’s diverse and multicultural history.
