New Delhi hosted an unusual and culturally rich festive season gathering at the Lithuanian Embassy, where Sanskrit scholarship and the spirit of celebration came together in a distinctive way. The event highlighted the intersection of ancient Indian knowledge traditions with international cultural exchange.

Taking advantage of the visit of Lithuanian Sanskrit scholar Vytis Vidūnas to Delhi, the Embassy organised a cosy get-together during the festive season. Guests at the gathering had the opportunity to listen to verses from the Hymn of Creation from the Rigveda, presented in Sanskrit, Lithuanian, and English.

The multilingual reading offered a rare experience for attendees, allowing them to engage with one of the oldest known philosophical texts across three languages in an intimate setting. The recitation underscored the continuing relevance of classical Sanskrit literature and its resonance beyond India.
The event stood out as a unique moment of cultural and academic exchange, reflecting how diplomatic spaces can also serve as platforms for shared learning and appreciation of ancient traditions during the festive season.
