Despite the declared ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, attacks on ordinary Palestinian civilians continue as usual. According to media reports, on Friday an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza once again targeted innocent people.
In this attack, Walid Hassan Darwish and Yasser Mohammed Abu Shahada were killed on the spot, while several other civilians were injured. According to a local reporter, Israeli fighter jets directly targeted a group of civilians present in the camp. The attacks did not stop there. Off the coast of Gaza City, Israeli warships chased Palestinian fishermen’s boats and opened fire on them. Meanwhile, in the city of Rafah, Israeli helicopters fired gunshots and carried out several airstrikes.
The Israeli army claimed that it spotted eight armed individuals emerging from a tunnel in Rafah and said that three of them were killed while the others were targeted. However, this claim has not been confirmed by Palestinian sources. Meanwhile, Israeli ground forces also opened fire in the eastern areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. A day earlier, on Thursday, three more Palestinian civilians were killed in Israeli firing—two in Khan Younis and one in the Al-Maghazi camp.
In addition, the report stated that the Israeli army demolished residential buildings in Rafah, while tanks carried out heavy shelling north of the Morag Axis, in the eastern areas of Khan Younis, and toward eastern Gaza City. Since the beginning of the ceasefire agreement, Israeli violations have reportedly resulted in the confirmed deaths of 513 Palestinians and injuries to 1,356 others.
Meanwhile, since the start of the Israeli war on October 7, 2023, more than 71,667 Palestinians have been killed and over 171,343 people have been injured. Nearly 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed. According to the United Nations, the estimated cost of rebuilding Gaza will be around 70 billion dollars.
