India, France Review Progress on High-Speed Rail Cooperation

New Delhi: French Minister for Transport Philippe Tabarot met India’s Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to review the progress of ongoing Indo-French cooperation in the high-speed rail sector.

The meeting focused on assessing advancements in joint projects, sharing technical expertise, and exploring future areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening India’s rail infrastructure. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties, particularly in sustainable and modern transport solutions.

The discussions involved key stakeholders including the Ministère de la Transition écologique et de la Cohésion des territoires, the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry, highlighting the broad institutional support behind the partnership.

Indo-French cooperation in high-speed rail is seen as a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between the two countries, combining French technological know-how with India’s large-scale infrastructure ambitions to support faster, safer, and more efficient rail connectivity.
