A major step forward in Indo-Dutch collaboration on clean energy research was marked today during a high-level engagement between the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the University of Groningen. The delegation was led by Prof. Jouke de Vries, President of the University of Groningen
The event witnessed two significant milestones aimed at strengthening cooperation in hydrogen innovation, research, and education between the two countries.
First, the Indo-Dutch Hydrogen Fellowship Programme was officially launched. The programme will create new opportunities for students and researchers to engage in advanced hydrogen research, promote knowledge exchange, and foster strong international research networks.
Second, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Groningen and 19 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The agreement lays the foundation for long-term academic collaboration, including student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, and innovation-driven partnerships in clean energy and related fields.
The developments were widely welcomed as a landmark achievement in strengthening Indo-Dutch cooperation and accelerating global efforts toward sustainable and clean energy solutions.
