JNU Hosts Event Marking 79 Years of India–Russia Diplomatic Ties and Human Space Flight Day

New Delhi, April 13: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), through its School of International Studies and Centre for Russian and Central Asian Studies, in collaboration with the Embassy of Russia in India, आयोजित a commemorative event marking the 79th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Russia, alongside the International Day of Human Space Flight.

The inaugural session featured remarks by Third Secretary Ekaterina Lazareva of the Russian diplomatic mission and was presided over by JNU Professor Archana Upadhyay.

As part of the program, attendees viewed a special screening of the documentary “Russia’s History in Space,” which highlighted key Soviet and Russian achievements in space exploration. The event also included student presentations on “Russian Cosmism, Space Cooperation, and Enduring Strategic Trust,” fostering academic engagement on historical, philosophical, and strategic dimensions of bilateral ties.

The gathering underscored the longstanding “special and privileged strategic partnership” between India and Russia, while encouraging dialogue on future collaboration, particularly in the domain of space exploration.
