AMU Student Wins Prestigious International Award, Presents Research at Cambridge

ALIGARH, Juhi Faridi, a student of the Department of Electronics Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has brought laurels to the University by winning the prestigious Best Poster Award at the international Neuromorphic Hardware and Algorithms Workshop held at the University of Sussex, Brighton, United Kingdom, on June 11–12, 2026.

Working under the mentorship of Prof. Mohd Hasan and Prof. Omar Farooq, Juhi received the award, sponsored by the IOP Publishing journal Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering, becoming the only researcher from Asia to earn the honour. Her participation was supported by an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) fellowship under Dr. James Knight at the University of Sussex.

Following this achievement, Juhi was invited as the only presenter from India to the prestigious Cambridge NeuroWorks 2026 conference at the Ray Dolby Centre, Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge. At the event, she presented an innovative hardware-software co-design framework for cloud-independent, real-time cardiac arrhythmia detection on FPGA.

Expressing her happiness on the success, Juhi acknowledged the guidance of her mentors, Prof. Mohd Hasan and Prof. Omar Farooq, and the contribution of her co-author and research partner, Mohd Areeb Hasnain, to the success of the project.
