Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026: UK High Commissioner Lindy Cameron Wishes Team India Success Ahead of Tournament

New Delhi: With just two weeks remaining before the start of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, preparations are in full swing as athletes from across the Commonwealth gear up for the prestigious multi-sport event.

Highlighting the significance of the Games beyond sporting competition, UK High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron said the Commonwealth Games serve as a platform for building cultural connections, empowering young people, and promoting sustainability and equality among member nations.

Ahead of the tournament, Lindy Cameron joined Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandviya and Indian Olympic Association President and legendary athlete P.T. Usha in New Delhi to extend their best wishes to Team India for a successful campaign.

Cameron also praised India’s important role in the Commonwealth, noting that the country has consistently contributed through its sporting excellence, rich cultural heritage, and global leadership. She added that sport continues to strengthen the relationship between the United Kingdom and India by creating new opportunities, fostering mutual understanding, and building lasting friendships beyond the field of play.
