ALIGARH, Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a large-scale plantation drive under the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign in collaboration with the Department of Land and Gardens to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen the University’s green initiatives.
The programme was inaugurated by the Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. M. Athar Ansari, while Prof. Qudsia Tahseen, Director, Directorate of School Education, AMU, graced as the guest of honour. Among those present were Prof. Anwar Shehzad, Member In-charge, Land and Gardens; Prof. Shams Tabrez Khan, Department of Agricultural Microbiology; and Prof. Abdul Rauf Khan, Provost, Sir Syed Hall (South).
The plantation drive was organised under the leadership of Prof. Asia Sultana, Provost, Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall, with the active support of the wardens and hall staff. Saplings were planted at various locations across the hall premises, and participants pledged to nurture and protect them, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Athar Ansari highlighted the importance of tree plantation in preserving ecological balance and encouraged students to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives. Prof. Qudsia Tahseen also appreciated the efforts of the Hall administration in promoting environmental awareness and fostering a sense of social responsibility among students.
