India-Germany Partnership Showcases Sustainable Food Solutions at BIOFACH India 2026

The Indo-German Pavilion at BIOFACH India 2026 highlighted the growing cooperation between India and Germany in promoting sustainable agriculture, inclusive markets and climate-resilient food systems.

The pavilion brought together sustainable agriculture initiatives, green market solutions, 18 farmer collectives, women’s self-help groups, government institutions and private sector partners. The event focused on strengthening links between farmers, markets, technology and investment.

A key focus was helping farmers and producer groups gain better access to sustainable and inclusive markets. Discussions also highlighted the Indo-German Agroecology Lighthouse Initiative and its efforts to test climate-smart agricultural solutions in India.

Georg Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission, underlined the importance of developing solutions in India that could also provide useful lessons for Germany, particularly as rising temperatures are creating new challenges for agriculture across Europe.

Another major discussion, titled “From Agroecology to Investable Food Systems: Markets, Finance & Partnerships”, explored how German expertise, technology and co-investment can support India’s expanding agri-food sector.

The event also highlighted the growing demand in European markets for high-quality and traceable organic products. Meeting international standards could provide Indian farmers with greater opportunities to access global markets.

The Indo-German partnership aims to promote sustainable agriculture, fair trade, climate resilience and stronger food systems, while creating new opportunities for farmers and businesses in both countries.
