West Bank: A total of 1,223 settlement-related violations were reportedly recorded across the occupied West Bank during August, according to a report by the Palestinian Information Center’s Mu’ta monitoring centre. The figure amounts to an average of around 39 incidents every day, highlighting the continuing tensions surrounding Israeli settlements and Palestinian communities in the occupied territory.
According to the report, 721 attacks were recorded during the month, targeting Palestinian residents, farmers, shepherds and their property. The incidents reportedly included shootings, threats, physical assaults, damage to crops and the burning of trees.
The report also documented 299 cases involving the seizure of Palestinian property and 49 cases involving the takeover of homes during August. The monitoring centre said such incidents increase pressure on Palestinian communities and raise concerns over the displacement of residents from their homes and lands. In addition, 154 settlement-related activities were reportedly recorded, including the expansion of settlement outposts and the construction of new infrastructure.
The report argues that attacks, property seizures and settlement expansion are increasingly taking place alongside one another, creating growing pressure on Palestinian communities across the West Bank. The figures cited by the Mu’ta centre point to continued tensions over land, property and settlement expansion in the occupied territory.
