India, Russia Hold First Working Group Meeting on Tourism Cooperation in Moscow

Moscow hosted the first meeting of the Working Group on Tourism under the Russian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation on December 18. The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.

The discussions were co-chaired by Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, and M.R. Sinrem, Joint Secretary (Destination Development Division) of India’s Ministry of Tourism.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to work jointly on simplifying entry requirements for tourists, expanding the geography of air connectivity between the two countries, and enhancing cooperation in the mutual promotion of tourism products. The participants also emphasized the need to facilitate business-to-business contacts and ensure the availability of cashless payment options for tourists traveling between India and Russia.

The discussions reflected a shared commitment to deepening people-to-people ties and boosting tourism exchanges as part of broader bilateral cooperation.

Following the meeting, the Russian side invited the Ministry of Tourism of India to showcase the country’s tourism potential at the International Tourism Forum “Let’s Travel!”, scheduled to be held from June 10 to 14, 2026. The invitation aims to further strengthen tourism engagement and visibility between the two nations on an international platform.
