New Delhi, Foreign Ministers of the BRICS nations concluded their two-day meeting in New Delhi on Friday with a strong call for reform of global governance, strengthening multilateralism, and resolving international conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
In the Chair’s Statement and Outcome Document issued after the meeting, the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation under the three pillars of BRICS partnership — political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The ministers expressed full support for India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship under the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” emphasizing that greater cooperation among BRICS nations can help address global challenges in a balanced and inclusive manner.
Marking the 20th anniversary of BRICS, the ministers reiterated the need to reform international institutions to make the global system more “just, equitable, democratic, representative and accountable.” They stressed the importance of strengthening multilateralism and upholding international law, including the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The statement highlighted concerns over rising global polarization and distrust, with ministers urging the international community to adopt politico-diplomatic measures to reduce conflicts and address their root causes.
The ministers underscored that “security among all countries is indivisible” and reaffirmed their commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue, consultation, and diplomacy.
Among the key outcomes, the ministers strongly condemned unilateral coercive measures and sanctions not authorized by the UN Security Council, describing them as contrary to international law and harmful to human rights. They called for the elimination of such measures, including unilateral economic and secondary sanctions.
On the Middle East, the ministers reaffirmed support for a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through peaceful means, while emphasizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including self-determination and return.
The ministers also expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan and warned of the growing risks of extremism and terrorism in the region.
Reiterating their united stance against terrorism, the BRICS foreign ministers strongly condemned “any acts of terrorism as criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, whenever, wherever and by whomsoever committed.
