West Bank: Israeli authorities on Sunday issued stop-work orders for 13 residential units in the town of Beit Surik, located northwest of Occupied Jerusalem, according to a statement released by the Jerusalem Governorate.
The statement said that several Palestinian residents received notices instructing them to immediately halt construction work on the 13 housing units. The governorate described the move as part of an ongoing policy targeting Palestinian construction in the Occupied Jerusalem area.
According to the governorate, Israeli authorities have continued to issue demolition and stop-work orders against Palestinian communities in Occupied Jerusalem, while maintaining strict restrictions on building permits for Palestinians. At the same time, settlement expansion and the confiscation of Palestinian land have continued.
The Jerusalem Governorate’s monthly human rights report documented a total of 20 notices issued across the city during May. These included demolition orders, eviction notices, stop-work orders, and land confiscation measures.
The report also recorded 84 demolition and land-leveling operations during the same period. Among these were 21 cases of forced self-demolition, in which Palestinian residents were compelled to demolish their own homes to avoid heavy fines.
In addition, 56 demolitions were carried out by Israeli municipal authorities and military bulldozers. The report further documented seven land-clearing operations targeting Palestinian-owned land and property.
According to the governorate, demolitions and bulldozing operations were reported across several neighborhoods and towns in the Occupied Jerusalem area.
