16-Year-Old Palestinian Killed, Two Children Injured in Israeli Gunfire at Qalandiya Refugee Camp

A 16-year-old Palestinian, Walid Nidal Walid Abu Sneineh, was killed after Israeli forces opened fire on Sunday evening in the Qalandiya refugee camp, located north of Occupied Jerusalem. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed his death.

According to the ministry, two other children were also injured in the incident. Both sustained gunshot wounds to their lower limbs.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces closed the entrances to the Qalandiya refugee camp in both directions before firing live ammunition and tear gas at residents.

The incident comes amid an ongoing escalation in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces have continued carrying out military raids in cities, towns, and refugee camps. According to the report, these operations have involved shootings and arrests that have resulted in Palestinian casualties.

Earlier on Sunday, medical sources also reported the death of a four-month-old Palestinian infant after Israeli forces allegedly prevented his transfer for urgent medical treatment through the Deir Ammar checkpoint, west of Ramallah. Local reports said the infant was in critical condition, but Israeli forces blocked his passage through the Deir Ammar gate. The checkpoint has reportedly remained closed for the past five months.

According to official Palestinian figures cited in the report, since October 8, 2023, the escalation in the occupied West Bank—including Israeli military operations and settler violence—has resulted in the deaths of 1,175 Palestinians, injuries to 12,919 others, the arrest of approximately 24,000 people, and the displacement of 33,000 Palestinians.
