Paris: France’s iconic Arc de Triomphe is commemorating the anniversary of its inauguration, which took place on 29 July 1836 under the reign of Louis Philippe I, King of the French.
Commissioned to honour the courage and sacrifices of those who fought for France, the historic monument has stood for nearly two centuries as a powerful symbol of national unity, remembrance and resilience. Located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe continues to remain one of Paris’s most recognisable landmarks and a lasting tribute to France’s history and those who served the nation.
